Preceptor Training on Program Mission, Goals/Objectives, and ACEND Competencies
We are developing a comprehensive training resource to provide detailed information on our program’s mission, goals, objectives, and ACEND standards and competencies. This training will help you better understand the framework within which our interns work and ensure that you can effectively support their development.
- Coming soon! Program Mission, Goals, and Objectives Overview: A recorded webinar and downloadable PDF outlining our internship program's core mission, its objectives, and how they align with professional standards.
- ACEND Competencies: A summary of the ACEND competencies we assess during the internship, outlining expectations for intern performance at each stage of their training.
- The Nutrition and Dietetics Practice Group (NDEP) Resources: The (NDEP) website has extensive resources for preceptors, including a preceptor training program that provides 8 hours of CEUs.
We will update this page as soon as the training session is available, and we appreciate your patience and commitment to helping our interns succeed.
Resources for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
As part of our commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment, we provide training resources to help preceptors recognize and address biases, microaggressions, and discrimination. These resources will equip you with strategies to monitor biases in yourself and others and to reduce instances of microaggressions and discrimination in the internship setting.
The following training sessions are available to support you:
- Empowering Dietetics Students: Navigating Microaggressions & Advocacy in Academic Settings: This training is designed to help dietetics students identify and address microaggressions they may encounter in academic and professional settings while teaching self-advocacy strategies.
- Empowering Dietetics Educators: Navigating Microaggressions & Advocacy in Academic Settings: This course focuses on how dietetics educators and preceptors can recognize microaggressions, intervene effectively, and foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all learners. The live session will be held by ACEND on November 19, 2024 at 12 PM ET. Register here!
- ACEND series of Webinars on DEI: ACEND offers a series of webinars to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in its accredited programs.
We appreciate your commitment to creating a welcoming and equitable environment for all students.
