October 24th– October 25th
On October 24th 2016, faculty members and students attended the 2016 Mini-Summit for Food Safety, Policy and Sustainability at Shanghai Ocean University in Shanghai, China. In attendance was the staff; Drs. Robert Jackson-NFSC Chair, Rohan Tikekar-Assistant Professor, Abani Pradhan-Assistant Professor. Students included Andrea Gilbert and Surabi Rani.
The summit additionally included Shanghai Ocean University, National Taiwan Ocean University, Shanghai Academy of Agriculture Sciences, University of Georgia, Auburn University and University of Maryland.
Drs. Pradhan and Tikekar gave oral presentations on their research. Drs. Jackson and Wei lead as moderators during the various sessions and students Andrea Gilbert and Surabhi Rani gave poster sessions regarding Masters and PHD work. Student Surabhi Rani took 1st place in the Graduate Student Poster Competition.
Overall, the summit was very successful for everyone in attendance. It was suggested that the University of Maryland host the 2017 Food Summit.
