NFSC visits Indoor Salmon Aquaculture facility at Institute of Martine and Environmental technology (IMEI) in Baltimore

On March 2nd, Undergraduate and Graduate students in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science (NFSC) attended an educational tour on recirculating aquaculture systems organized by the Maryland Institute of Food Technologists (MD IFT). The event was held at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology Aquaculture Research Center (IMET ARC), a facility which houses outstanding research on how aquaculture systems can be sustainable to the planet while providing high quality products to consumers in Baltimore, MD. Following an insightful educational program by Cat Frederick, Dr. Catherine Liu, and Dr. John Stubblefield, NFSC students embarked on a tour of the aquaculture systems within the IMET facility where they witnessed novel research on recirculating aquaculture systems and advanced aquaculture technologies. Students in NFSC were accompanied by faculty professor Dr. Rohan V. Tikekar, who is also a member of MD IFT.
