The UMD Dietetic Internship (DI) received an “OUTSTANDING ABSTRACT” award at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Only 15 of the approximately 350 abstract-posters received such an award from AND’s Dietetics Practice Based Research Network Oversight Committee. The abstract-poster, written by the DI Director and DI preceptors, was entitled “State Dietetic Practice Group involved in State Regulation Revisions: Relevant, Vital and Never Dull.” It described engaging dietitians in the process of changing long term care (nursing home) regulations in Maryland.
