Preceptor Resources

Our 2022-23 cohort at MAND Advocacy Day!

Welcome to the Preceptor Resources page!
Here  you will find tools and materials designed to help you support and guide our dietetic interns throughout their training experience. This includes information on our program’s mission, goals, and objectives, as well as the ACEND-required competencies essential for intern success.

You’ll also find resources that promote respectful communication, equitable learning experiences, and best practices for fostering a supportive environment for all interns. Our goal is to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive in a professional setting.

Thank you for your dedication and for playing such an important role in developing the next generation of dietetics professionals!

A big "Thank You" to all of our preceptors!

Preceptor Training on Program Mission, Goals/Objectives, and ACEND Competencies

Following are some resources for preceptors to learn about our program’s mission, goals, objectives, and ACEND standards and competencies. These resources will help you better understand the framework within which our interns work and ensure that you can effectively support their development:

  • Program Mission, Goals, and Objectives Orientation: A recorded webinar and downloadable PDF outlining our internship program's core mission, its objectives, and how they align with professional standards. You will also learn about ACEND standards and required competencies. And we review the program structure and expectations for dietetic interns, the program director, and preceptors (43 minutes).
  • ACEND Competencies: A summary of the ACEND competencies we assess during the internship.
  • The Nutrition and Dietetics Practice Group (NDEP) Resources: For additional preceptor training, visit the (NDEP) website. They provide webinars on being an effective preceptor and a link to The ACEND Preceptor Training Program that provides 8 hours of CEUs!
  • Trainings on strategies to recognize and monitor biases in self and others and reduce instance if microaggressions and discrimination: Please see the next tab.

We appreciate your commitment to helping our interns succeed!

Equal Opportunity Resources
